Losing the rights at 70 to a C1 driving licence.

Removing category C1 happens automatically when you reach the age of 70 which restricts you to driving a motorhome over the weight of 3,500kg unless you get a medical examination report at a cost of  fees ranging from £16.50 for a “straightforward certificate of fact” without an examination “to £124 for a written report without exam, with detailed opinion and statement on condition”(source BMA’s guidelines for fees) An online petition has been created asking the government to debate the issue of motorhome driving licence for those over the age of 70. It includes the idea of creating a C1 leisure vehicle category to differentiate drivers of commercial heavy vehicles to those wishing to drive heavier motorhomes when they reach the age of 70. If you support this initiative please click on the link below to sign the petition.
